It's February!!

Hey guys!
Okay, so I weighed-in today and I actually gained 2 pounds! It's not that big of a surprise to me, since this past month I have been eating really crappy and not exercising at all. I don't really know if i gained the 2 pounds or lost anything, because this week I did eat very well, so it may have been that I gained during the first part of this month and because I just weighed-in it looks like I gained (if that makes sense). Anyway, I think once this cold subsides I will start exercising again, but for now I am just going to eat the right things.

As for my life in general, it is pretty overwhelming right now. More with school than anything else. I finally made an appointment with my counselor, because I need to talk to him about not doing the vet tech certificate anymore. And, I know you guys may be shocked when I say this, but I am also rethinking the entire veterinarian thing as a career choice. I feel like these classes I have been taking at the JC have given me some insight toward being a vet, and I have to say, that I don't think I would be happy in that career. I feel like working with the animals would be fun, but at the same time I wouldn't really want to do it everyday.

Now, I know this may seem weird, but I have sort of narrowed down my options to a career in baking. The only thing is I don't know what i should do now while I am at the JC, that's why the counselor is needed. And, I also feel that I love baking. I know I would probably have to go into culinary classes, but i like cooking too and i would definitely rather be doing something I love than something I feel I have to do. The veterinary career was something I felt I had to do for the future. I would get better money and I would be pleasing my family, but I know how to save money and family should be happy with whatever I choose. So, this is my choice and I'm finally getting it out there. Tell me what you guys think, because I want to hear everyones opinions :) Talk to ya next monday, have a great week, bye!

I think that its very smart of you to realize that you will not enjoy it as a career. And you do have a gift for baking...and making sweets in general! I think you might be on to something!
you will do great at whatever you choose.
I have been thinking very heavily about FINALLY going back to school and finishing my pre-reqs for nursing starting in the fall if i can work out the logistics with 2 babies...

Sistah! I think its freakin amazing that you've thought about this and have come to a conclusion that you, and only you believe is the best for you...I can relate the same thing to me, when I thought about the broadcast thing, then went to work for the roadrunners, and realized I couldn't do that as a career...in regards to having to make money, its really not about the money in the end, you need to be happy with your life and what you do, and things will fall into place plus if you are successful, then thats more then money can pay..I think you would be a great baker, and possibly open up a shop of your own, which would be amazing, then I can get free pastries/sweets/goods all I want! hahahahahaha, I'm happy for you, and I'm sure you will be able to do anything you want!

monica: I know, I just figured that i enjoy whenever I bake anyway, so this could be something I would want to do as a long term thing. You should try and go back to school, maybe if there are some online classes you could take those first just to get used to it. thanks for the support monica!

vince: thank you soo much brotha!! I totally agree, if you are sucessful then that's more than money can pay :) That's exactly what i was thinking about, opening up a shop i mean, it would be awesome wouldn't it?! Anyway, thanks again!

Amanda, it is your life and work is horrible if you don't enjoy what you are doing. I think you will get a great deal of gratification doing what you love to do and your good at it.
Culinary school is a great idea. There is one at the JC here in Napa, look around, there are good ones out there that aren't really expensive. But I can tell you that pastry chefs do not make much money, I suggest being a full on chef, but it is up to you of course.
Take it one step at a time. Things will fall into place, but really think about finishing up your college degree too.

And if your gonna open a shop, which would be awesome, you will need to take bookkeeping classes and some business classes. : )

Good advice vicki! i'm totally going to finish college up though, I wasn't thinking about stopping, I just didn't know what i should do with the culinary stuff. And, hmmm...business classes? I really think it would be fun to have a bakery, so I'm gonna have to see what the counselor thinks. Thanks vicki :)
